Career Opportunity - Regional Development Manager: Te Ohu Ikaroa (Central Region)

Our regional development effort is an integral part in all of the above, and we are looking for the perfect person to do the mahi, and share the treats in the Central rohe!

Te Ohu Ikaroa (Central Region) includes the following Provincial Associations:

  • Whanganui Touch Association
  • Touch Kapiti Horowhenua
  • Wellington Touch Association
  • Taranaki Touch Association
  • Touch Hawkes Bay
  • Manawatu Touch Association
  • Turanganui a kiwa Touch Association


In partnership with our seven Provincial Associations we have embarked on a regional development strategy and now have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and engaging person to build collaborative relationships. This includes representing Central Region with local Councils, Regional Sports Trusts and Sport NZ working groups, managing the relationship with College Sport where applicable, and supporting Provincial Association committee meetings as required by our seven Provincial partners.

As development staff are employed the development manager will be instrumental in managing and coordinating operational delivery and outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator, with the ability to present to various groups and motivate people towards a common goal.

You’ll also need to be well organised and financially savvy as you will be required to put together and manage budgets and scope out potential funding opportunities that may assist with the future growth of our sport in the Region.

This full time role reports to the Group Chief Executive of Touch NZ and will be based in the Central Region. The position holder also supports the Board of Te Ohu Ikaroa (Central Region) and involves extensive travel within the area, and some nationwide travel may be required at times. A vehicle, laptop and mobile phone is provided with this position.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Passion for the development of community sport
  • Prior staff management and development skills
  • Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills (and the ability to present to groups)
  • An appreciation of our sport and/or understanding of how Touch modules and Touch Provincial Associations operate would be an advantage
  • An appreciation and/or understanding how primary and secondary school sport operates would be an advantage
  • Full drivers licence
  • A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred
