Proudly nurturing our tamariki to grow, thrive, and develop a lifelong love for sport.
At Touch NZ, we believe the wellbeing and development of our tamariki and rangatahi has never been more important. With the growing pressures on young people today, it’s vital we create sporting environments that support their long-term health, happiness, and love for the game.
Backed by research and guided by Sport NZ’s Balance is Better strategy, we’re proud to champion a holistic approach to junior sport — one that puts the needs of young people at the centre. Together with our Provincial Associations, we’ve developed the Touch Junior Policy, built on the values of AWHI, to ensure our kids experience Touch in a fun, safe, and supportive way.
This policy reflects what we’ve heard from communities across Aotearoa and aligns with Sport NZ’s vision: reducing early pressure, moving away from a win-at-all-costs mentality, and encouraging long-term participation and development.
We’re confident this approach will grow not only the number of kids playing Touch, but also their confidence, skills, and lifelong passion for sport.
